The Boring Store

The Boring Store Chicago
I had walked past The Boring Store (1331 North Milwaukee Ave) many times during my trips to Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood, and finally I decided to stop inside to see what it was all about. Walking through the front door, you find a wall full of video cameras watching you, and an assortment of Spy Gadgets available for purchase. The Boring Store offers such spy necessities as night vision goggles, grappling hooks, periscopes and everything else that an aspiring spy could need.

It turns out that The Boring Store is actually a clever facade. While The Boring Store does sell of the spy gadgets that it has on display, it is actually a fund raiser for 826 Chicago, a non-profit writing and tutoring center for Chicago school children. The 826 Chicago Writing Center is located in the back of the store, and the sales from The Boring Store go to help fund their programs.

The next time you’re in Wicker Park, stop by The Boring Store and see what they have to offer. You might find that special gadget (Ajax Can with a hidden compartment?) that you have been searching for, and help out some kids along the way.
