Chicago River Green

At 10:45am on Saturday March 15, 2008, The City of Chicago will dye the Chicago River green. Dying the Chicago River green is a tradition like none other in Chicago. Legend says that the non-toxic formula was discovered by accident, and the green is far beyond anything that you might imagine. I first saw the green river last year, and it is something that you truly have to see with your own eyes. This is a must-see for anyone and everyone.
The green portion of the river is between Michigan Ave and Columbus Drive. Click over to the official Green Chicago River website to see a map. For best results, get there early on March 15th. You can still see the green for a few days after, but it is nothing compared to seeing the Chicago River green on the day when the city celebrates St. Patrick’s Day.
After checking out the river, head over to Grant Park for the Chicago St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
