SPECIAL EFFECTS
The Chicago Fire Department and Chicago Police Department will supervise the use of special effects and pyrotechnics, including:
-simulated gunfire
-smoke
-fireballs
-explosions

HELICOPTERS
For brief periods between the hours of 8:00am – 8:00pm on both Saturday & Sunday, helicopters will be used for aerial photography along the Chicago River and in the vicinity.

Performances on Saturday and Sunday will run 11am-9pm. The Gospel Fest 2010 is Saturday and Sunday only.

Normal tickets for The Taste of Chicago (June 25 – July 4, 2010) are sold in strips of 12 tickets for $8.

Another advantage to getting your Taste of Chicago Discount Tickets ahead of time is that you won’t have to wait in the long ticket lines at The Taste of Chicago.

Taste of Chicago Discount Tickets

Admission is free, but you have to pay for food and drinks. Purchases are made by ticket only. Tickets are sold in strips of 11 for $7. Large items are generally 9-10 tickets, side portions 6-7 tickets, soft drinks 4 tickets. All daily restaurants offer a small “Taste” portion for 2-3 tickets – a great way to sample a large variety of all the food available. Discount tickets are available ahead of time.

You can usually get Taste of Chicago Discount Tickets at your local Dominic’s Grocery Store during the week preceeding The Taste of Chicago. This is a good way to save a few bucks on the otherwise overpriced food samples.

Chicago Summer Events 2010

It’s my personal recommendation that you try your best to avoid the large crowds at The Taste of Chicago. I suggest going mid-week or early in the day, when the crowds are not quite as insane. On the weekends, you are literally pressed up against thousands of other smelly / sweaty people, in 90+ degree heat, being pushed over and wishing that you had just stayed home. Get there early.

If you are going to make the pilgrimage to Taste of Chicago, I suggest going to see one of the musical acts. The seating filed around the music shell provides a slight break from the overwhelming crowds. I also suggest avoiding the fireworks at all costs.

Please Note: The 2010 Taste of Chicago Fireworks has changed from recent years.

Taste of Chicago Fireworks 2010
Fireworks begin @ 9 pm on July 4th. The show will last for 15 minutes.
Taste of Chicago will close at 6pm on July 4 (What are you supposed to do between 6pm and 9pm???)
Taste of Chicago will close at 7pm on July 3

Northside fireworks can be viewed from Foster to Montrose on the Fourth of July at 9pm.
Southside fireworks can be viewed from 63rd Street Beach to Promontory Point on the Fourth of July at 9pm.
Downtown fireworks will launch from Navy Pier on the Fourth of July at 9pm. (see more Navy Pier Fireworks)

Specific performance times are not scheduled ahead of time. If there is a specific performance that you want to see, there is no way to know what time it will occur.

2010 Chicago Air Show

The 2010 Chicago Air Show will feature Air Show Headliners U.S. Navy Blue Angels and the U.S. Army Parachute Team Golden Knights. The Chicago Air Show runs from 11am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday. Specific performance times are not determined ahead of time, but the headliners tend to go later in the afternoon.

Navy Pier Fireworks 2010

From Memorial Day through Labor Day, the sky above the lakefront will fill with a spectacular fireworks display of color and sound. Each Wednesday night ourlive bands play all the hits of the decade at the Bud Light Stage in the Navy Pier Beer Garden.
